What are other counties policies are for having a registered sex offender doing work release. It is for a DUI case but he is a lifetime registered offender. Thanks

Le Sueur County lets them out to work. We do have a disclaimer in our policy that we can revoke or deny work release based on charges though.

Clay County does not allow people with crimes of violence outside in general without exception to policy by administration or a court order for liability issues that come with this. I.E. work release is a no go all together but if they have a supervised program (work detail, sts) then we can bend the rules to try and help them if the crew leader is in need of individuals and willing to accept the person. if they are monitored and not allowed to interact with the public then it greatly reduces the chance of an incident from occurring. We do this to prevent the person from getting a chance to reoffend while on an outside work program but still in out custody (which happened in the past) and then being sued by the victim(s) because he/she should have never been let out in the first place. if you get court ordered work release then the liability is on the judge/ the individual and not the county.

Sherburne County Jail If the court deems them Huber eligible, they are eligible if… If they meet the work release requirements (full time job, paying taxes, etc.), after they are interviewed they would be placed on the program. No restrictions for Predatory Offender. That being said, we use GPS monitoring so we would definitely pay even closer attention to where they are at while working if it was a job that moved around a lot. Wright County Jail is same as Sherburne. We also use GPS and would set up additional perimeters to monitor.
Hubbard is the same as Sherburne and the inmate pays the daily GPS fee in addition to the Huber fee.
Becker County also uses the crime of violence statute to assist in making a decision. An individual sitting on one of these charges would be denied. Anyone with a history of crime of violence charges, but sitting on a different charge, would be considered on other policy items. Someone working at a single location, like a manufacturing job, would be approved before someone with multiple work locations. We also use GPS on all county work release inmates. Any questionable applicants would be referred to admin for final decision.
Nicollet County lets POR’s work if they are given the Huber privilege from the judge. We do not allow anyone to work more than one job.

As long as they qualify for our regular huber requirements, the only additional requirement would be for them to have a GPS being they are a registered sex offender. Crow Wing they pay $25/day pay for stay and then GPS we use Midwest Monitoring now and the inmate pays an additional $5.50 per day for this fee.
Thanks!

Chisago county Uses the Crime of violence statute. If they are in on a charge that falls within the crime of Violence Statutes, then they do not get to go to work. If it is in the past, then it is an admin choice based off of their classification.
