How are other counties running their days credit for inmate workers. I am wanting to change how we do it at Clay Co. Currently, we do a 10 to 1 ratio, but I have heard of many other options.

Becker County is doing 16 hours worked to get 1 day credit, after fines are paid of course.

Morrison County - Sts is 1 day off for 5 days worked but fines first then pay for stay then days off Carver County: 3 days worked, 2 off of their jail sentence Northwest Regional We offer 1 day for each 8 hours worked. If granted by the judge, they may earn $6 per hour worked for fines and hour for hour for Community Service. Chisago County - 1 hour get you credit for 2 or every 12 hours you work you get one day off of your sentence. Isanti County - Isanti gives 5 days credit for 7 days worked in each the laundry and kitchen. If 1 inmate does both jobs, they get day for day credit.
Olmsted County - We do day for day. 1 day worked get them 1 day off their sentence. Sherburne County - STS gets a day for day, county inmates going out with work crew leader. Inmate workers receive no credit, we pay them $5 per day and paid every 7 days. Benton County - credit $10 each hour Inmate work or STS work toward workable FINES only. We can apply to (Benton or Stearns Co. Files) STS is 8 hours day credit to FINES $80 or then TIME if FINES are satisfied 1st, Then it is (Day for Day) or every 8 hours = (1 Day) if individual qualifies. Yellow Medicine County - Our judges do now allow credit off of jail for inmate workers. They told us if they knew we had been doing this, they would have sentenced them to more days. If sentenced to 30 days only 10 days credit. We let them work off the pay to stay fee

Douglas County doesn't give any days credit for working STS or as an inmate worker. STS gets $10/hr applied to applicable court fines or jail pay for stay fees. Inmate workers get $20/wk applied to their inmate TEAM account.

Stearns Co. inmates cannot work time off unless approved by the judge. This rarely ever happens these days. I haven't seen it approved in years, but if it does get approved it's 3 for 1. Typically, inmate workers can work off fines only. Once fines are worked off they are working for free/something to do to pass time. When working they get credit for 8 hours a day and $10 an hour towards fines.

Kanabec, if we use inmate workers who are not sentenced, they earn no time or credit towards fines, they earn some commissary. In-house STS is day for day once fines are paid @ $10/hr.

Aitkin County is 2 for 1 jail credit for both STS and Trustees. That credit occurs only if they owe no money(fines, court fees, restitution, past pay for stay). They can work off fines and pay for stay at $8.00 per hour. The other fees have to paid in cash. If they work off eligible money and can't pay the fees, they work $ off their current pay for stay. If that gets satisfied and they still owe money and have time left, they have the option to donate their time or sit in..
