We are looking to see where other jails are at for programming. -Do you have programs happening in your jail? -Do you have volunteers coming back in? -If you don’t have volunteers coming in, what programming are you doing with your inmates?
Thanks! Miranda

At the Ramsey County Correctional Facility we have done our best to maintain programming as long as we have felt it is safe to do so . We just put a two week pause on programs as we have had our first resident test positive after initially testing negative and being at the facility for several months. As we sort out where it may have come from and who else may have been exposed, we are choosing to quarantine an entire unit. We have been running cognitive behavioral groups, cd treatment, education, and parenting group. We are NOT having any volunteers come in and have not done so throughout the pandemic.

We have both in person and virtual programming here in Anoka. Our volunteers and inmate wear masks when they are in programming. We've had to suspend programs when we've had an outbreak but we are currently running normally but our numbers are low - some of that is due to a number of inmates in isolation, but also an overall disinterest.

The Pine County response is exactly the same as Anoka's response.

We do not have volunteers come in. We are doing some Programming, mostly gym, art, movies and puzzle type activities. We have done a good job with COVID out breaks for the most part, but we have struggled as of late. We have designated different units for new inmates or quarantined inmates. When we do start with volunteers, we will require vaccinating and all of the other standard recommendations. We also hold vaccination clinics every few weeks for all inmates and staff. The last two years have been hard, but safety is our upmost concern.

We have normal programs and work release going on in Meeker County. Everyone is masked up when in programs and out of their cell. We’ve had to stop programs during our only outbreak. Our inmate numbers are very low and a lot of disinterest in programs it seems.

Otter Tail is having volunteers back in the facility to run programs, masks required and social distancing between separate housing units. Vaccination is not required for volunteers. Our work release and STS are up and running as well.
We have shut our programs down due to positive cases (mostly staff positives) and follow all guidelines for quarantine/isolation per cdc, MDH and our local public health before starting programs up again in each case.

Rice county is beginning programming effective today. Bible Study, GED, NA, AA and other programs will start with in-person volunteers, but they must be screened prior to entry. This includes a COVID questionnaire and body temp. Face masks and social distancing are still required and enforced.

We've not had volunteers in our jail since the start of the pandemic but have implemented limited programming via Zoom last summer. We're currently paused due to an outbreak in one of our units.

Douglas County programs are still running on a normal schedule. We have one unit with a positive test so they are not allowed to program at this time. Last Friday we increased our protocol to have volunteer's temp taken prior to entry into the jail. Volunteers must be masked at all times - that is still in effect from when we opened back up after the main covid event. Otherwise business as usual here.

We have been having only Church/Bible study via Zoom . Other wise we do not have any other programs at this time as we have had two out breaks in our jail in the last 3 months.

Hennepin has done a wide variety of different things. We have done some virtual via MS Teams but have gone away from it. We were back in person for the housing units that were not in quarantined but this month has hit everyone. I believe I have only 4-5 volunteers who are coming in to their respected units who have not been shut down yet. At one point, I had volunteers doing rapid tests. The County has required a vaccination attestation so I have had to personally view vaccine cards for all my volunteers. Strick masking is a requirement for those who come in the building, staff, volunteers and inmates alike.
