We currently have them sign off that they have read the Inmate Handbook but just wondering what other forms are people doing and what other materials are you covering in orientation?
Thanks in advance.

We produced an orientation video. Inmates must view before leaving intake. We have had to update it several times in the last 12 or so years.

We currently sit down with each inmate and review the Inmate Handbook and answer any questions they have. We then have the inmate sign off that it was reviewed and they understand what is expected. I am currently moving toward putting an orientation video together as well for them to watch and then sign off on. I also have many PDF's I created available on their texters/tablets that are referenced during orientation that cover a wide variety of topics - How to fill out a Public Defender Application, Community Resource Phone Numbers, Bondsman Phone Numbers, Public Defenders phone numbers, Sentencing Guidelines, etc. I cover most of the questions that are asked on a daily basis, they just have to know it's there.

During intake classification the inmates are offered an Inmate Handbook. They sign a receipt indicating they took it or refused it.
