We are wanting to see where other counties are at with their programming and if anyone has started doing any in-house programming yet without volunteers. If so, what are you all doing and how big of groups?
Thanks! Miranda

We have started our GED classes (in person). Everyone is required to wear a mask. Class size is 4 which is about the limit with social distancing. We hold our Parenting class via zoom. If we have inmates from different units they are required to wear a mask. Our barber has been coming in ever since shops could open, again, everyone wears a mask.

Dakota County is doing GED/college prep/Coping with anger and Parenting inside out via zoom in our gym with inmates wearing masks and spaced 6 feet apart with housing units separated also. Our Chaplin is doing in person bible study in gym with same standards. Our jail treatment counselor is doing her classes in person in the gym. Church services are prerecorded and played in the gym. Still no volunteers in the building at this time.

(In-Person) We are doing all Virtual Volunteer Programming here at Benton County on WebEx M-F and some evening times. Have all the original programs running again on virtual format only, accept Sunday Worship.
Sunday Worship is a VIDEO WORSHIP MASS or SERMON. I do not have Weekend programming besides VIDEO SUNDAY MASS.
And also Jail Program staff doing (Recreations, Library, Happiness Class, Guided Video Meditations and some other Video programs)

We have been running our Canvas Health chemical treatment in person. We are going to start letting one on one happen with programs like GED, Re Entry and Chaplin visit. All with proper distancing and masks. We have also finished our tech upgrades and we are coming up with a plan to implement getting our programs up and running on Microsoft Teams.

We're going to continue all our programming via zoom as we have done since last May...It's been working well and many of our volunteers like it. We recently did our two day REC retreat through zoom and it was a success. Our GED is done per request and we'll continue with that. We've talked about bringing in one on one through our visiting area, but that hasn't happened yet.

Hennepin is conducting our High School program, max of 4 (vs 8). Our coaches provide gym groups for mental health programming. On 1/4/21, we started virtual volunteer lead programming via Teams meetings (not allowed to use Zoom). These classes are one hour long with a max of 6 per size of rooms and social distancing. We have 4 classes during the day and one in the evening. I don't have an idea of in person programming for some time. I think we will remain in a modified lock down for the entire facility (23/1) until we get though the high profile court cases this summer. I don't think they will let me bring in volunteers until the modified lock down is over.
