We are currently doing 1 for 1 clothing exchange but looking to change things up and go back to our old way of utilizing clothing bags for each inmate. I am curious how everyone else does laundry in your facility? Can you please let me know how your process of initial issue and clothing exchange is being done in your facility and any issues you see with your current process.
Thanks!! Miranda

Le Sueur County issues 1 set of clothing at intake. We do laundry exchange bags on Mondays and Thursdays. Each inmate receives 3 sets of clothing (only 1 jumper) in a bag and when we collect the used stuff, we make them count it out and show that they are giving us 3 sets in exchange. If they want a clean anything between clothes change out days, we swap 1 for 1. Linens are exchanged on Thursday. Blankets are offered to exchange once a week, but many inmates keep their blankets for months sometimes.

We are still doing 1 for 1 in Hennepin. While our count is lower than pre-COVID, we still have 12 housing units in the two buildings and the inmates are switching housing units for us to do bags.

We do a 1:1 exchange - twice a week for clothing and bedrolls - once a week for blankets and sweatshirts. They are given 3 sets of socks, underwear, etc. when going to the unit.

We do daily bags. Each inmate is given 2 sets of clothes at intake. Bags are assigned to each bed so there is always one ready. At lunch time each day, bags are collected and washed, they are usually returned by dinner time. Bedding is done on weekends. If an inmate needs a new item of clothing they put that piece of clothing out with a slip asking for a replacement. Its been working good for us for over a year now.

Chisago County does a daily clothing exchange of 1 to 1. They get 2 clothing packets at intake so the can put clean on every day and then they can turn in there dirty.

Hubbard is moving from uniforms and towels twice per week and linens once per week to assigned bags and daily exchanges with two sets of clothing issued at intake. This is a good thread and I hope more people post.

Ramsey County Workhouse - We use laundry bags. Each unit/dorm has a specific color laundry bag with a bunk/cell or bed number on it. We wash laundry bags on Monday, Wednesday and Friday's. Blanket and sheets once a week. Jumpsuit exchange twice a week.
