Steel is requiring staff and inmates to wear masks. Inmates are given 2 cloth masks and they can wash then as needed. Staff were issued a cloth mask and have the option to purchase something different if desired.

For Hennepin -
Every staff member who comes through the door must go through medical screening, have temperature taken and given a surgical mask. The use of cloth masks were taken away two weeks ago. Staff must wear masks at all times.
For inmates - We conduct a medical screening questionnaire while the inmate is still in the squad. If needed, the nurse will reevaluate in the squad before coming in. A surgical mask is place on the inmate while still in the squad. From that point on, inmates are required to wear a mask anytime they are out of their cell. They are still on a modified rolling lock down, approximately 2/22 hours. Inmates who are in dorm setting are given a mask but are only required to wear it if they are leaving their Mod.
Every inmate is on a mask exchange program. I deliver new surgical masks to each housing unit for every inmate on Wednesdays. Staff is asked to do an exchange, new for old.
This may not be the best way but it has been working for us.

Otter Tail requires staff to wear when unable to social distance. In other words, everywhere but the bathroom or offices. Inmates wear when outside of cells.

Douglas is currently requiring inmates in 7-14 day quarantine to wear masks. Staff were given masks and required to wear if working directly with inmates (within 10 ft) or unable to social distance with staff, inmates are issued masks and will wear them when out of their cells and unable to social distance. They will wash their own.

Clay has now changed and starting Saturday 7/25 all staff will be required to wear masks at all times while in the secure part of the jail, besides in the break room and library (also used as a break room to allow more room for staff members on break since no inmates are allowed in there due to COVID) when inmates are booked into our custody, they are placed on mandatory 14 day quarantine and are tested on the 10th day. They are not allowed to move to general population until the results are back from their test. Inmates on 14 day quarantine are required to wear a mask any time they are outside of their cell. Quarantine housing units are only allowing one inmate out at a time and after each inmate is locked back down, the housing units officers are disinfecting the units with bleach water. Once they are cleared by medical for general population, the inmates are no longer required to wear their masks. Medical masks are provided to the inmates upon entering the facility. All staff have been provided with 3 cloth reusable masks by administration, but are allowed to wear any mask of their choosing, as long as the mask its self is not offensive or derogatory.

Scott county has had the inmates and staff wearing cloth masks for months and will continue to for the foreseeable future. Our inmates are provided a plain cloth mask and our officers are allowed to wear either a mask or a gaiter.

In Le Sueur County, we as staff wear masks when on the floor. We are not requiring inmates to wear masks. All new inmates go to a quarrantine unit for 14 days before being moved to gen pop. Quarrantine inmates are not allowed to leave the unit for rec, library, programs, etc. until moved to gen pop. We require inmates to wear a mask when they go to court. Our numbers have been way down per the Sheriff's order, but this week he has opened the jail up to most misdemeanor warrants and arrests, so we are anticipating an increase in intake over the next several weeks.

Benton County - Staff need to wear mask all times accept in individual office or individual work post, or single bathroom, or on outside breaks where 6 feet apart can be maintained. Must wear N-95 when dealing with intakes, any quarantine, or incidents. Inmates must wear mask while moving at all times through out building accept when in individual cell or bunks. For Our non-quarantine General Pop Unit, a mask for inmates is optional. We offer mask. Staff allowed reusable masks in place of surgical mask as long as appropriate and not political.
