We have a detainee that is asking for several items so he can observe/practice his religion. He is Pagan - Wiccan. I have not had anybody ask for much more than religious books for Pagan religion in the past. He is requesting pendants, cloak, altar cloth, herbs, crystals, gems, special diet, etc. I'm curious what others have done for the Wiccan faith in your facilities, thanks!

Sorry, I have not had that one come across my desk. The most we may do in a situation like that is provide some sort of printout. Pedants, cloaks, cloths, herbs, crystals, gems would not be allowed. I would allow a special diet, only if it fell in line with a current special diet that we offer.

On religious materials, I will provide a book for the religion of their choice once I have verified the book is for that religion. Other items are not allowed by our sheriff for safety and security reasons. Our food service company does a good job of getting verified meals for valid religions. Inmates are required to sign a contract for the meals.
