With the legalization of recreational marijuana going into effect what are agencies doing when it comes to work release and use? We currently view it like alcohol where it can't be used. But, if someone reports with THC in their system how are other agencies dealing with it? Are they allowing them to go out?

That’s how Benton is viewing it right now as well.
Freeborn views it like alcohol too. They must have a clean UA before going out and it must remain clean on random testing while they are out. This is because we have no way to measure if positive tests are from before they came or if it is because they are still using while out.

Le Sueur County added verbage to our contract stating that it is not allowed, medically or recreationally, to be used while on Work Release, and must provide a clean UA as well, even if they have a medical card.

Crow Wing is not changing anything either. Clean UA and no use, just as before.

Kanabec is staying the same, a failed test is a failed test. GCMS testing is too expensive.

Chisago County Has changed a bit. But ours changed when gummies became a thing. We will send in a positive test to find out their levels and send them to work. Then we will test them the following week and if the levels go down, they can continue to work. However, if their number stays the same or go up then I pull them off of work release and they do not get to go back to work.
